38 Weeks

Lifestyle

This is it…my last pregnancy update post! While we don’t know exactly when baby boy will be making his appearance, I’m not sure how much I’m going to want to post pictures of myself on the internet if he hangs out past his due date, so I have a few other posts in the works for the coming weeks instead ;) Dave and I are in this funny limbo phase of being really excited and thinking that I could go into labor any minute, but at the same time, we’re trying to be present and soak up the rest of our time alone together. Everything is crossed off of the pre-baby to do list I made a few weeks ago, so we really are just waiting at this point, which I am grateful for!

38-weeks(Oh hey, Lilly After-Party Sale dress!)

How far along: 38 weeks

Baby size: A spaghetti squash

Weight gain: Fluctuates between about 35-37 lbs

Stretch marks: Still none, which I’m really surprised by–thank you, Burt’s Bees!

Sleep: So bad. I have convinced myself that lack of sleep with a newborn will be better than this, because at least then, there will be some cuteness involved, not just discomfort. At least, that is my hope :)

Maternity clothes: Still living in workout shorts and Dave’s t-shirts for the most part, plus one of three swing dresses when I leave the house. I was pretty excited to be able to include my new dress from the Lilly sale (pictured above!) in this limited line-up!

Gender: Sweet boy!

Movement: Lots! I can’t believe that in a few days/weeks, we’ll be able to see his little arms and legs when he moves. I can’t even imagine it!

Best moment this week: I finally treated myself to a manicure and pedicure, and it was heavenly! I had always imagined getting tons of pedicures when I was pregnant, but turns out, a few other things take priority in the budget when a baby is coming–who knew ;)

Food cravings: Ice water, cereal, and seemingly all things sweet. I made these cookies last week to have a slightly healthier dessert option on hand, and they’re SO good! Dave loved them too.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Missing anything: Sleep, moving around without any discomfort, all those lonely clothes in my closet that haven’t been touched in months! (Speaking of which, any thoughts on how long I should wait before trying pre-pregnancy clothes on after the baby comes? I’m nervous!)

Symptoms: Mostly, I feel like my body is just maxed out. Still having Braxton-Hicks contractions, lower back pain, hip pain, shortness of breath, and some acid reflux.

Looking forward to: Meeting our baby soon!!

YAY! Come on, CKK! :) I cannot wait to hear your reflections on the joy ahead. I seriously look at photos from Beau’s birth every few days and marvel at how blessed we are! You’re looking awesome! I have the shift dress in that Lilly pattern and honestly kind of regret not getting the comfy swing dress like you have! Don’t forget to keep using the Burt’s Bees in the hospital after the birth, that’s where I slipped up and got a few stretch marks.. Yikes! Haha! I tried on a ton of clothes about a week after and it was really fun and encouraging to see that I was a normal human again, but I also didn’t try on things like shift dresses and honestly didn’t look normal in those until recent times. Just take the next few months of your body for what it is. Only 4 months ahead of you I already feel like I worried too much about it. You’ll be back to normal in no time. Enjoy lots of leggings time. :)

I can relate to so much of this! My weight gain is exactly in that range too! I’ve been joking that I’m getting weaned off of sleep but I wake up in the middle of every night and have a few (or several) restless hours before I get back to sleep. Frequent heartburn isn’t helping. But I still feel like I can’t complain- my pregnancy still feels pretty easy! I miss all my clothes too! I even packed away anything tighter fitting for a while, so I wouldn’t look at it and feel discouraged. A lot of my friends seemed to be back to their normal weights within 4-6 months and have credited breastfeeding so I’m hoping I’ll have good luck with that for mine and the baby’s sake!

  3. So, so excited for you!!! I too can’t wait to read your reflections on all the joy ahead! Praying for all that lies ahead and for you to be able to get some good rest before CKK’s arrival! xo!

Ahhhh!!! You are so so so close!!!! So excited for y’all!!!

Woohoo, 38 weeks! Super cute dress! I would say pick out your looser items to try out for the first few weeks after baby. I would think you’ll just be wanting comfortable clothes anyway. I think at 2 weeks PP with Jimp I brought him to girls’ night out dinner and wore boyfriend style jeans in a larger size and loose tunic and felt pretty good in that. I had a stash of a few things that were a little bigger than my pre-baby size so I wore those for a while. Everyone is different though so don’t worry! :) By 3-4ish months PP I think I fit into my regular clothes.

Oooo those cookies sound good :) Can’t wait for CKK to arrive!!!!!

You are almost there (and you look wonderful!) Enjoy these last few days and anticipation – it is all such a beautiful thing. He will be in your arms and out in the world before you know it. Also, you are in such good hands where you are delivering – I cannot say enough wonderful things about my recent experience.

Samantha! Thank you so much for your encouragement. It is SO wonderful to hear that you had another great experience there–Ramsey is too beautiful for words! :)
