I can’t believe I’m sitting on my new couch in my new apartment in my new city writing this post. Y’all, I have dreamed about the possibility of this day ever since I started blogging three years ago, and it is with so much joy and gratitude that I can finally share what my new job is with you!
I have been reading every bridal magazine I could get my hands on since at least early high school, and though I have enjoyed so many of them, no magazine ever resonated with me quite like Southern Weddings does. Not only do I think it is the most thoughtful, creative, beautifully designed magazine on the market, I also love the undeniable focus on marriage. It was so clear to me from the moment I opened my first copy of V4 (the fourth issue of Southern Weddings) that this magazine was not only full of gorgeous Southern wedding details, it was also overflowing with inspiration for truly beautiful, thriving marriages.
I can hardly find the words to express how humbled and grateful I am to be the newest editor for Southern Weddings. I am so thankful to Lara, Emily, Nicole, Marissa, and Kristin for taking a chance on me and welcoming me to Chapel Hill and to their office with open arms. These women are incredible, and I cannot wait to get to know all of their hearts so much more. V6 prep is already well underway and I’m so ready to dive right in, meet all of the wonderful brides and readers, and help make one heck of a beautiful, meaningful magazine happen. I am being officially introduced on the Southern Weddings blog today, so if you’re interested in hearing a little bit more about how I got my job (along with a video about what happened when I got my job offer email!), you can find it all here.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support and prayers during this journey, from the day I started Something Pretty to now. I’m especially grateful to my family, who has believed in me fiercely since the beginning, my boyfriend Dave, who this journey would not have been nearly as fulfilling and joyful without, and my sweet friends who were always quick to offer me their prayers. I have not made a final decision on what path Something Pretty will take quite yet, but for now, my focus is going to be on getting acclimated to my new job and schedule. I will definitely keep everyone posted, but please feel free to follow along on the Southern Weddings blog, as well as my personal social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest) in the meantime!

YAY!! So happy for you! :)
Lisa,
Being a praying mom/wedding planner/venue owner who with my hubs has taught the Newlywef class at our church for 13 years I JUST LOVE YOUR PRAISE story. God is blessing you with the desires of your heart. So thrilled your gift mix will be used in such a wonderful environment to do what you love with others who love Him, marriage, pretty, and weddings. Will pray for your transition as I pray for my recent college grad who is interviewing for his dream job.
Blessings,
Marianne and the RiverOaks gals
