Something New

Main

Hi, friends!

Gracious, where to begin? When I set aside Something Pretty over a year ago, I assumed that I would either pick it up again a few months later, or make the decision to quit blogging entirely. Well, that was July 2013, and although I am very glad that I decided to put blogging on the back burner during this very busy/amazing/crazy/blessed year, I haven’t been able to bring myself to take Something Pretty down altogether.

For three years, I worked on Something Pretty every single day with my end goal in mind: to get a job at Southern Weddings. Now that I am indeed working at (and loving!) SW, I’ve realized how many other blessings this little blog gave me, besides a portfolio. In short, it trained me to appreciate small moments, to seek out joy in every circumstance, and to celebrate the beauty of life, every step of the way. Those are the reasons that I’ve decided to start blogging again–I don’t want to lose any of those qualities, not one bit.

Something Pretty won’t be the same as it used to be though–most of all, it’s no longer going to be a wedding blog. I’m now so lucky to use my passion for weddings and marriage in my day job, and I am looking forward to using this space to reflect on the other things I love. If you’re looking for gorgeous, meaningful weddings and incredible love stories though, look no further than the Southern Weddings blog, as well as our beautiful print editions, Volume 5 (2012), Volume 6 (2013), and the soon-to-be-released Volume 7. I’m SO proud of the work we do at SW, and would love to share it with you!

Instead, this space will be more personal–a place for my family and friends to follow along with my life in North Carolina, my travels across the South and beyond, my wedding plans, and snippets of some of my favorite things: celebrations, style, decorating, and more. I’m excited to have a clean, fresh new design and logo (created based on the same inspiration board as my past design–I love that!) to reflect this simpler perspective.

It’s good to be back! xoxo
