Walking through neighborhoods to look at houses is one of my favorite pastimes (my sister and I call them “architecture walks”), but I’ll be the first to admit that the exterior of my house is far from my favorite thing about it. In an unlimited budget world, we would paint it, but especially since we don’t see ourselves in this house for longer than five years or two kids (whichever comes first :)), that doesn’t even show up on our list of house projects. We have, however, always planned on painting both the inside and outside of the front door, and when Dave’s parents generously gifted us with some money specifically for that purpose for our anniversary, we started collecting inspiration. I can’t think of a better source of front door/steps inspiration than Charleston, and we ended up color-matching our paint (Sherwin Williams Billowy Breeze) to a blue front door we snapped a photo of there! We also switched out the light fixture and knocker and loaded up on plants at the garden center…and pulling up to our house has never been more fun :) Here’s a look at how it turned out!
We’ve been in our house for almost a year, and I can’t wait to show you the progress we’ve made on it soon! You can see what it looked like on move-in day here.
This makeover is AMAZING! I love it! Also, I’m sure it will come as no surprise to you that I could completely recreate the outfit you’re wearing.. haha!
Haha, I love it! :)
Love the blue! :)
Come over and see! :)
I love it, gorgeous!! We are in the process of landscaping our new yard and it is so much fun but it’s definitely not a budget-friendly feat!
Thank you, Heather! Landscaping is on our radar but I am scared, haha :) I’d love to see how your yard turns out if you share about it on your blog!
Absolutely gorgeous! Nice job.
Thank you! :)
LOVE the blue door with the gold letter!
We were a little unsure about the gold knocker with our silver hardware, but ultimately figured I love mixed metallics in other places, so why not! :)
Love this! We are hoping to do a similar entryway makeover at our new house :) How did you pick out the flowers and pots? Did you know exactly what you wanted or asked someone at the garden center for advice? Thanks!
So fun!! We knew the color scheme we wanted, so we picked the pots first (nothing too strategic–just a few different colors and sizes so it would look mixed-and-matched!) and then went to the garden center. Someone there helped us choose flowers in our color palette that would do well with the amount of sun our front door gets, and so far, so good! :)
Gorgeous!! Such a happy entryway! Love all the flowers and the blue door!!! :)
Thank you, friend! Can’t wait to see what color y’all paint your front door! :)
Love! I want to repaint the front door of my house so bad, but not sure if we can because it’s a rental :(
