Our Stay at Kings Courtyard Inn

Lifestyle

Charleston was our first trip with Charlie that wasn’t to visit family, and Dave and I were both a little bit nervous about how the logistics of things like nap times and feedings would go without the comforts of home. When we set out to find a hotel, two things we had never cared about too much took top priority: a very central location and a spacious room (or, even better, a suite). We really wanted to be able to pop in and out of our hotel easily to give Charlie a break from his stroller or feed him, and loved the idea of being able to put him in a separate space overnight so we wouldn’t have to whisper after 7:30 P.M. Our search led us to Kings Courtyard Inn, right on King Street in the heart of downtown Charleston. We couldn’t have been happier with the way our stay there worked out!

First, a few facts: Kings Courtyard Inn dates back to 1853, and is one of the oldest buildings on King Street. It’s also family-owned, so it’s no surprise that they’re a wonderful fit for families visiting Charleston.

We were delighted to find out that their Parlor Suite was available for our trip dates–it’s on the top floor and tucked away in a corner of the hotel, which made me much less nervous about any noise Charlie might make overnight. The living area had plenty of space for Charlie to play, as well as lots of comfy seating options (can I get a praise hands emoji from my fellow nursing mamas?). We set Charlie’s pack and play up right outside the door connecting the living area and bedroom, so he could go to bed at his normal time while we hung out and watched movies in our room. It felt a lot like what we do at home!

The bedroom was elegant and cozy, and the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked bustling King Street. We loved relaxing here after walking around all day. Sleeping on a canopy bed also felt very fancy :)

Along with the lovely accommodations, we thoroughly enjoyed the “perks” of staying at Kings Courtyard Inn. Included with your stay is breakfast (with the option to have it delivered to your room, for no additional charge!), a wine and cheese hour in the courtyard, and glasses of sherry in the evenings. Breakfast in particular was huge for us–it was so nice to not have to worry about planning and paying for one of our meals each day, and few things feel more delightfully indulgent than room service, don’t you think? :)

Ultimately, you don’t travel to stay at a hotel–you travel to experience a new place! That’s why I think our favorite thing about Kings Courtyard Inn was the location, and how its convenience made our experience of traveling with a seven-month-old so positive. If you’re Charleston-bound (side note: I’m jealous–I’m already itching to go back!), I highly recommend checking out Kings Courtyard Inn, especially if you’ll have a little one in tow!

More Charleston recaps coming soon! :)

Kings Courtyard Inn graciously extended a discounted rate to us in exchange for blog and social media coverage. I loved working with them and am so happy to share our experience with you!

Dave still won’t let me get a canopy bed for our house, despite this fancy one! :(

Obsessed with that gorgeous aqua wall color and am seriously debating calling the hotel to ask what it is! Looks like a perfect getaway; you can’t beat Charleston :)

    • Lisa says:

That was one of my favorite details–it was so pretty. You should definitely call them! :)

I love that mint green/aqua wall color too. We plan to paint our master bath something really similar. :) I think the room service breakfast alone would sell me to book it!

It was so nice to not have to get everyone ready and out the door first thing in the morning! Can’t wait to see your master bathroom–Dave showed me a picture of all your new counters! So fun!
