Can you believe it’s August? This summer has flown by, and even though it’s not the summer of 2012 that I always expected to have (thanks to transferring and changing my major last year, leading to staying in school for a fifth year), I have been feeling very blessed and peaceful lately about where I am. I’m thankful that I’m at a school that I really believe has the tools to help me succeed in the future, I have internships where my supervisors make me feel genuinely valuable, and I have such a wonderful support system in my family and both old and new friends. All of these big things to be thankful for make me want to be even more thankful for the little things, which is why I’ve decided to follow in my friend Michaela‘s footsteps and start filling a notebook with things I’m thankful for on a day-to-day basis. Here are four to start with!
{1. Gorgeous dresses. My friends that I volunteered at Brides Against Breast Cancer with joked that in a room full of dresses, my face was all lit up, and I believe it! Beautifully constructed, unique dresses stop me in my tracks, and more than almost anything else, they make me feel thankful for the career path I’ve chosen. By Elizabeth Messina via Once Wed}
{2. Friends! I’m sure many of you have already seen pictures of Amanda of 100 Layer Cake’s incredible bachelorette weekend that her friends threw for her! If not, here’s an overview–hanging out by a pool in Hollywood, burlesque dancing lessons, a pink and white pillow fight, and a sentimental dinner. How perfect! By The Why We Love via 100 Layer Cake}
{3. Venues that have everything I love. If I was ever going to get married in New Orleans, it would definitely have to be here at The Chicory. Exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, exposed beams in the ceiling, and huge windows? Check and check! By Studio Tran Photographers via Style Me Pretty}
{4. Charming details. The whole focus of Something Pretty is classic weddings with charming details, and this sweet polka dot cake fits the bill beautifully. By Scott Piner via Southern Weddings}
