Inspiration to Reality

Weddings

I have something a little different for you today!

Before moving to Austin, I pinned pictures of my favorite bedrooms and bathrooms like crazy. Keeping in mind that this could potentially be the last apartment where I can do whatever my girly-detail-loving heart desires, I wanted it to be pretty, inspiring, and fun, all within my very limited student budget. Today, I thought I’d show you the pictures I settled on as inspirations, and what I’ve come up with so far. Please keep in mind that I am very much a beginner when it comes to photography! ;)

{Bedroom Inspiration}

{Okay, so this picture isn’t of a whole room, but that’s okay! What I like about it are the textured white linens, mismatched pillows, Parisian detail, divided artwork, and the way it looks both glamorous and rustic at the same time}

Instead of investing in that pricey ruffled duvet cover from Urban Outfitters, I draped an interesting textured blanket from Ikea over the foot of my bed. To imitate the three squares of framed wallpaper in my inspiration picture, I blew up one of my favorite pictures of my boyfriend and I and printed it in four sections.

My favorite parts of the room are my ladder-esque bookshelf and “coffee station.” The bookshelf was only $20 at Ikea, and it’s super light and easy to transport. I loved filling it with my favorite things, like picture frames, my monogrammed Anthropologie mug, my Tiffany’s boxes, and my favorite Essie nail polishes. As for the coffee station, I’m on the lookout for a cheap and adorable bar cart to take the place of those drawers, but in the meantime, I tried to make it cute with a picture and a coffee scoop.

{Bathroom Inspiration}

{There are so many things I like about this…the polka dots and stripes, the pink, and that darling little snail are seriously too cute! Perfect for a girly place to get ready for the day}

I was so excited about the things I found for my bathroom! The dark wood floor and greenish counter are not ideal, but I think I did okay with what I had. I ended up with a pink bath mat and hand towels from Target, white-with-gray-striped towels also from Target, and this great polka dotted shower curtain from Gracious Home. And, of course, the room wouldn’t be complete without a little white porcelain animal–that elephant makes me smile every time!

Interior designers, how did I do? If you have any suggestions, I would absolutely love to hear them! :)

Have a lovely weekend!

Love,

Lisa

    You did great! A part of the fun of decorating is adding to it when you find more treasures. Have fun!

  2. Angie says:

    I especially like the BFFs in Qatar photo :) What if you replaced the pink and blue striped pillow cases with white ones and then created slipcovers out of the same blue checkered cloth used for the curtains, and use them for small decorative pillows? Or if you didn’t want so much checkered, incorporate just that blue to spread the color throughout the room and unify it. I really like that shower curtain too and the cute white elephant :-)
