I’ve had flowers on my mind a lot lately (though I’m not sure why–it’s October, after all), and if you follow me on Pinterest, you can attest to flowers being one of the most frequent things I pin! I think flowers are one of the biggest wedding trademarks–there are not too many other events that showcase them quite so much. Thank goodness most grooms are pretty nonchalant about wedding planning, because that might be the only way girls get away with overloads of hot pink tiger lilies and whatnot, but I always think it’s nice when a bride gives her groom a boutonniere slightly more suited to his taste. I love the cotton bouts from last week’s Friday Love List, and here are a few more that I think any guy would be proud to wear!
From this little roundup, I would say the keys to a great boutonniere are unique blooms, texture, muted colors, and simplicity. Of course, there’s always the non-floral route too–the groom above is wearing a kite! :)
What factors do you think make a boutonniere appealing?
Love,
Lisa
P.S. I would just like to credit the title of this post to Nathan Russell Photography, who when I tweeted about finally being able to spell “boutonnieres” without looking it up, replied that they just call them man flowers. Haha!
