Our Fall Fun List

Celebrations

First things first: Something Pretty now lives at somethingprettyblog.com!!! It’ll redirect from the old domain, but if you have the link saved anywhere, go ahead and switch it. I cannot tell you how excited I am to FINALLY have a much easier-to-remember URL after all these years! :)

The anticipation of fall has never been sweeter, now that I have a little boy whose birthday marks the first day of the new season! Charlie was so teeny last fall, so this feels like his “real” first fall, and I’m so excited to see him experience it. Fall in Raleigh is a little bit of a tease–we frequently have beautiful, crisp days followed by temperatures back in the 90s. To make sure we fit in all the activities I want to do with Dave and Charlie over the next few months, even when it doesn’t feel like fall, I decided to make a list and wanted to share it with you today!

An oldie but a goodie–more photos here!

  • Celebrate Charlie’s first birthday!
  • Take pictures of Charlie in a pile of leaves
  • Visit a pumpkin patch
  • Take Charlie on a hayride
  • Bake my mom’s famous chocolate chip pecan pie
  • Carve pumpkins
  • Buy a fall candle
  • Take Charlie trick or treating (we already have his costume and it is PRECIOUS)
  • Make chili and cornbread for Halloween dinner
  • Host a healthy Thanksgiving breakfast-and-parade-viewing party
  • Write down things I’m grateful for every day
  • Arrange a fall-inspired centerpiece
  • Bake pumpkin muffins
  • Go to the NC State Fair

What’s on your fall list?

  1. I love your fall fun list! I shared mine yesterday (https://stephseekingjoy.com/2017/09/11/fall-2017-to-do-list/), and I couldn’t believe I’ve been sharing an annual fall to-do list for four years now. I’m still holding onto summer, but the weather right now is making the transition to fall a little more bearable! Also, I think you’re going to need to share your mom’s chocolate chip pecan pie recipe, if it’s not a secret family recipe!!

Love your list! Making an apple/pumpkin recipe from Southern Living is a great idea. We’re hoping to sneak off to the mountains for a weekend too, but I wasn’t quite confident enough that we’ll be able to make it happen to add to my list, haha!

  2. Congrats on the new domain name, friend!! :) Love this list and you reminded me that I need to whip out my fall candle that I’ve been saving since last fall – ha! Wishing Charlie the happiest birthday month!! xo!

  3. mary wilmot says:

SO excited for you guys to celebrate ONE YEAR with Charlie!

  4. Allison says:

I am in love and over the moon for your amazingly simple and realistic goals for fall! I love that “buy a fall candle” is on the list. And I, too, must snag a photo of my sweet boy in a pile of leaves.

    Thank you!

    • Lisa says:

I figured the simpler = the more likely I was to do them, so that was the name of the game! Our fall candle has already been a great addition to our home!

  5. Kristina says:

Oh how I love to visit the pumpkin patch! Sadly, living in the big city means that the closest I get to picking my pumpkins at the patch is buying them at the local farmer’s market :D I love a good seasonal bucket list and after reading yours I feel inspired to get my own written down. Buying a fall candle and cooking roasted pumpkin soup will be at top of the list!

  6. Dana says:

I found a pumpkin patch in between Austin and Killeen, so Ian and I will be pumpkin picking! Can’t wait to see all the Charlie pictures now that he’s so big!!!

  7. Rhiannon says:

Such a fun list! And Charlie is one! Hooray; such a special milestone, mama :)
