Inspiration for Our Home Design

Home

The only thing we have checked off of our house to-do list since February is painting our front door! Now that we are finally getting into a bit more of a groove with two kids, we’re eager to pick up our paintbrushes and get back to work. As you may remember, our experience of buying our house went VERY quickly. While we love our house and have no doubt that moving here was the right decision, it turns out that it is a bigger project than we had anticipated during that whirlwind week between seeing and buying. Everything we want to do is cosmetic, so it’s an exercise in patience more than anything else–something we aren’t really used to since we came from much smaller (read: quicker to update!) spaces. I’ve had my secret home inspiration Pinterest board open constantly lately, so I thought it would be fun to share a peek at some of our inspiration!

Dave and I worked really hard to define our style when we were engaged (and registering for our wedding!). It has been so sweet to see how our preferences have evolved as we’ve experienced each of the three places we’ve called home together, seen the needs for our family’s space change, and embraced our own senses of personal style more. I’m not exactly sure how to best sum up the aesthetic we have landed on, but a few descriptions I circle around include light-filled and airy, classic with a modern sensibility, and a balance between our Southern locale and European travels. I LOVE the “New Victorian” style and would love to include more touches of that in our house where it makes sense.

The next three items on our to-do list: installing a new dining nook light fixture, replacing our dining nook chairs and kitchen counter stools, and painting Charlie’s room. I’ve been using #somethingprettyhome on Instagram, so follow along there, if you’d like!

Do you have a particular home decor style you gravitate toward?
