Before jumping into a first trimester recap and some last-minute summer posts, here’s one that’s been sitting half-finished in my drafts for, oh, about a month. Conveniently, the Beautycounter products I’m sharing are all 15% off right now, which only happens once or twice a year, so maybe my procrastination was meant to be ;)
2019 has been a year of weddings for us. For some reason, we seem to alternate…a year packed full of weddings, then a year with none. In the spring, we attended three in five weeks and it was such a fun whirlwind, especially considering we kicked it off with my sister Dana’s wedding. She just got her photos back from the incredible Jen Dillender (sneak peek below!!) so we have been delightedly reliving the day while scrolling through them over the past week. On a bit of a selfish note, I was really happy to see that my makeup turned out okay, since I did it myself. I had been happy with my plan to do so until earlier in the spring when suddenly (maybe the change of season or my hormones?), it seemed like my makeup was suddenly sitting on my face differently and all but disappearing by the afternoon.
Before Dana’s wedding, I picked up a few new products to round out my routine and make the end result more occasion-ready. I was so happy with the results, I proceeded to do my makeup the exact same way for the next two weddings we attended. Best of all, the vast majority of these products are what I would consider “safer”–they score low on the Think Dirty app and/or are from a company whose ingredient selection process I trust. As y’all know, I’m far from the most active Beautycounter consultant. The biggest positive impact my involvement with the company has had on me over the last two years, though, is that it has taught me to be picky about the ingredients in the products I use daily. Upon finding out I was pregnant, I didn’t even have to wonder if my daily products were pregnancy-safe…I know that they are, and that feels empowering to me. Okay, getting off my soapbox :) Here are the (mostly) safer products I’ve been using for special occasions this season that look great, photograph well, and stay put all day!
Seriously, how beautiful are my mom and sisters?!
Moisturizer: One Love Organics Skin Savior Balm
Primer: BareMinerals PrimeTime Foundation Primer*
Foundation: BareMinerals Original Loose Powder Mineral Foundation in Fairly Light
Setting Powder: BareMinerals Mineral Veil Setting Powder*
*I actually bought this trial kit in order to test the primer and setting powder before committing to full sizes. I especially love the primer and promptly added it to my daily routine.
Concealer: Beautycounter Touchup Concealer Pen in Light
Bronzer: Beautycounter Radiant All Over Bronzer in Dune
Blush: Beautycounter Color Pinch Cream Blusher in Hibiscus
Brows: Glossier Boy Brow in Brown
Eyeshadow: a combination of two or three shadows from my Beautycounter palette, which is similar to this one
Mascara: one coat of Glossier Lash Slick + one coat of Lancome Definicils (the latter is not necessarily my favorite–I just happen to have a sample tube of it. Any “volumizing” mascara you love would work for the second coat.) P.S. For Dana’s wedding, I didn’t do this mascara routine, and instead, asked the makeup artist for false lashes.
Lipstick: Beautycounter Color Intense Lipstick in First Date (LOVE this color so much, and this type of lipstick is my biggest Beautycounter obsession. It’s the only type of lipstick I wear now.)
Setting Spray: Urban Decay All-Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray (This is least clean product on this list, which is why I only use it for events like weddings. On regular days, I use this clean sunscreen/setting spray.)
Love the post! I have bought some beauty counter from you. Which clean sunscreen/setting spray do you use? The link looks left off, but maybe it’s just my phone being glitchey. Thanks!
I forgot to link it, sorry! It should be there now! :)
Thank you, Lisa!
