I know it’s not officially spring for a few more weeks, but the weather in North Carolina has been amazing lately, so my mind is skipping ahead! I’m a warm weather girl through and through, and spring holds so many sweet occasions for our family: both my and Dave’s birthdays, Easter, our dating anniversary, and our wedding anniversary. We’re excited to enjoy the first spring in our house (turns out we have hyacinths in our front yard–pleasant surprise!) and with Charlie, and it has been a fun challenge thinking up ways to enjoy the coming months with him. Here’s what we have on the docket!
- Celebrate Dave’s birthday
- Celebrate my birthday
- Celebrate Charlie’s half-birthday :)
- Cook our traditional Polish feast for Easter dinner
- Buy an heirloom-worthy outfit for Charlie to wear to Easter Mass (we haven’t splurged on ANY clothes for him yet, so I’m pumped about this!)
- Decide on a meaningful Easter tradition to start with Charlie
- Enjoy bluegrass music from a picnic blanket at Fearrington (our reception venue!)
- Celebrate our second wedding anniversary in a special way
- Go to the farmer’s market
- Throw a little party for my (four!) pregnant friends
- Set up an herb “garden” in our backyard (I’m picturing something like this)
- Spend a day at the beach before the summer crowds start
- Splurge on a big bouquet of peonies
- Make pizza from scratch using my friend Rachel’s crust recipe
- Try a new-to-us restaurant with outdoor seating (maybe Whiskey Kitchen or Bare Bones)
What are you excited for this spring? I’d love to hear!
Yes! I am so in the mood to make a spring to-do list as well! I started a google doc of our family “traditions” as we start them, but I am sure it is much more meaningful to come up with ideas when you have a baby! You have so many fun occasions to look forward to!
xoxo,
Catherine
It’s kind of funny starting traditions while Charlie is so little and doesn’t really know what’s going on, but I just love the idea of saying we’ve done something every year since he was born, so we are carrying on! ;)
We are so looking forward to Spring, too! I am such a list person, and I truly appreciate this one! Last evening, Mike and I were talking about how special it is that Peter is experiencing a season for the first time – it is such an incredible thing to reflect upon! I love the herb garden idea! We are planning a little garden, too – if you have any tips, please share!
It must be so sweet to be back in the season he was born in! I know next to nothing about keeping plants alive haha, so we’ll see how it goes. I just feel like I’m constantly throwing away herbs from the grocery store and hate being so wasteful!
Can’t wait for spring dresses for Gigi…but yeah, it’s been in the 80’s so totally starting early too! I hope we can get a good garden going too. .Aelish and David definitely inspired us!
Ahh, she’s going to be so cute in spring dresses! Aelish and David are all the garden goals, haha–can’t wait to see what y’all do!
Wildflowers are popping out! Lots of bluebonnets along the interstate part of my commute :) Forcing my students to enjoy class outside by scheduling lots of reading time lols
I miss the blue bonnets!!
Where are you looking for Easter outfits? Our little boy is celebrating his first as well!
We’re looking at Janie and Jack, Boden, Smocked Auctions, and Beaufort Bonnet Company!
We moved into our first home in December when all of the plants were in hibernation mode (or dead!) and we now have so many beautiful blossoms blooming and it’s such a fun surprise! I love your spring list, peonies are definitely on my list too :)
So fun! So far, we have hyacinths and a few daffodils, but I’m hoping a few more things pop up! I’m also considering it an excuse to put off doing any gardening, ha ;)
Spring is my favorite season because winter in Berlin is long and grey with very little to no sunshine at all for days. Unfortunately we don’t expect spring to show her face before the end of March but I have been starting to freshen up my home and bring fresh blooms in so that at least my living space looks like spring is right around the corner ;-)
Love all your ideas to celebrate this season! I personally can’t wait to celebrate Easter (always the best part about lent is the light of Easter in the end) and to use the outdoor spaces of all my favorite coffee places again.
Flowers make all the difference when it’s still dreary out! We’ve been able to sit outside at our favorite coffee shop a few times this month and it has been heavenly–plus, Charlie loves being outside, which is a bonus!
Thanks Lisa! I had good luck at a Jacadi sale for his baptism outfit last summer.
