First of all, thank you SO much to everyone who responded to my survey! I’m truly grateful for your feedback, encouraging words, and honesty. It was also so much fun to see both familiar names (hey friends!) and unfamiliar names pop up in the comment section–if we haven’t gotten to chat before, I’d love for you to comment more! I respond to every blog post comment and cherish getting to know you on an individual level. The biggest takeaways I got from all of your feedback were that most people enjoy personal posts about life and family, home and decorating posts, and the posts where I share an assortment of favorites and finds (Love Lists and miscellaneous style posts). Conveniently, most people also really like reading monthly goals, which is great since I have every intention of sharing them consistently this year :)
It’s really funny looking back at my 2016 goals because when I wrote the post sharing them, I was pregnant but didn’t know it yet! Our year looked completely different than I had anticipated it would, which was a good lesson to me that even though it’s wonderful to set intentional goals at the beginning of the year, life can change any time, and drastically. I have an idea of how I want my 2017 to look, but God KNOWS what my 2017 is going to look like. If there is one thing I feel like He has to teach me again and again and again, it’s that His plan and timing are perfect. So, the disclaimer with these 2017 goals is that my number one goal is to stay open, to always be discerning God’s will for my life, and to follow where He leads me.
My inspiration board for the year! I’ve never made one before, but my friend Emily‘s take on them inspired me :) Credits below!
All that said :) Here are the goals I’ll be working toward this year. I used a six-month PowerSheets set to decide on them (they’re sold out, but may be restocking later this year–I’ll keep you posted!), and loved the process this year more than ever!
1. Grow deeply in my relationship with God.
Some action steps: start every day with 15 minutes of prayer while I’m feeding Charlie (usually looks like five minutes reading my Blessed Is She devotional, listening to one or two praise and worship songs, and then spending a few minutes praying for specific intentions or about the day ahead), do a monthly holy hour, do a yearlong “women of God” study (more on this soon!)
2. Love and care for my family well.
Some action steps: happy hour dates, no phones in bed, put Charlie above work even when I’m busy
3. Grow the healthiest and strongest I have ever been.
Some action steps: train for and run a 5K in the first half of the year and a 10K in the second half (eek!), go to barre classes twice a week, add 10 healthy recipes to our go-to list
4. Pour into our local community and friendships.
Some action steps: Host a couple for dinner at least once a month, throw a group baby shower in the spring, host a monthly women’s rosary (email me if you’re local and want to join!)
5. Read 12 great books.
Some action steps: Find books :) Read a little bit every day!
6. Continue to share my joys and the cause of them on Something Pretty and social media
Some action steps: Go through survey feedback and make a list of post ideas based on it, batch write or pre-write posts when I can
January Goals
1. Get into a rhythm of working and taking care of Charlie
2. Run 2-3 times a week and go to barre twice a week
3. Start my women of God study
4. Explore new website hosting options and make a decision
5. Finish reading Wild and Free
I know I’m super late on the goal posting train for the beginning of this year, but if you posted your 2017 goals somewhere, let me know–I want to check them out and get inspired by you! :)

I love your goals (I share many of them as well!) and LOVE your inspiration board!! I too haven’t ever made one but you and Em are inspiring me to make one even though it’s January 10th! :)
My goals for the year are here!: http://www.thevandykes.com/blog/2017-goals/
You should–it was fun! And a lot easier than I had anticipated! :)
I have the same first goal – the most important one, right?! (and Blessed Is She is awesome!) And I’m right there with you on running 2-3 times per week and barre the other days. I like the mix of strength and cardio, and a rest day is key!
As always, thanks for sharing!

I love Blessed Is She! Have you been following their Instagram stories lately? The takeovers they’ve been doing are so fun and encouraging!
I haven’t! I should check them out then!
As you know, I love setting goals and reading about other peoples goals so I’m super glad that monthly goal setting posts are back ;-) Love the way you are approaching goals this year!
I’m still working through my PowerSheets prep work…I think I picked up one of the last one-year-workbooks before they sold out #yippie…but I new I would be doing the prep work in January and start fresh on February 1st. I’m also trying to have very general goals and then set more specific goals season by season. I will move at least once this year, do an internship, go back to uni, etc…so much unpredictable change ahead that setting goals for the entire year just isn’t a good idea. And above all, I also need to be reminded again and again that goals are good BUT ultimately God is in control and my number one goal should be, and is, to listen to Him and to pray that my goals align with His plan for my life.
So glad you got your hands on a PowerSheets set! It sounds like you have a super exciting year ahead, and I know you’ll approach it all so intentionally–cheering you on!
Great goals! I’m super curious about your Bible study! I am trying to read more this year too (in reality it might just be more audio books though). ???? I already downloaded some so I have no excuse! Hehe
It’s actually not a bible study, but I’ll be excited to hear your thoughts! Sharing in a week or so! :)
Great goals for the year! I also am trying to be & eat healthier – would love to hear what your 10 go-to recipes are once you figure it out! I actually have two that I’ve made multiple times in the past month, if you want to try them out! One is a white chicken chile (with FIVE ingredients. Literally, it is SO easy and delicious!) The other is an incredible basil-tomato soup that is also pretty simple. You make both in the crock pot, too, so that makes it even better :)
I’m also hitting up the barre, so I’ll be here to cheer you on, sister!
Anyway, looking forward to all that you accomplish in 2017! Happy New Year!
P.S. I can’t remember if you saw them already but my goals are here: http://www.katimallory.com/2017-goals/
Is the white chicken chili from Gimme Some Oven? If so, that’s one of our favorites too! I timed it one morning and it took six minutes to throw together. Recipe gold!!
And yay for barre solidarity! :)
The choco cherry cookies count as a healthy recipe :) definitely worth a spot on the go-to list!!!!
I need to go get the ingredients!!
Love the inspiration board and these goals, and as you said, we have many in common! :) My FAVORITE line: “Continue to share my joys and the cause of them” – I love that so much!! Curious to hear more about your web hosting decisions! xo
Thanks, friend!! I was happy to finally land on a blog/social “mission statement” after all these years! :) As for hosting, I am very seriously considering moving to ShowIt 5, which I discovered recently and am super intrigued by!
Share your healthy recipes!! It’s going to be a good year!
So far, the favorite is TIU peanut butter banana overnight oats! I’ve been making a batch at least every week!
