The Cutest Christmas Ornaments

Celebrations

Dave grew up cutting down his own Christmas tree, but since pine trees were few and far between in most of the places where I lived, I’m pretty content with the faux variety. Now that we have a house though, Dave is determined to start the real tree tradition in our family, and I’m more than happy to oblige! As much as I love a super cohesive-looking, magazine-worthy tree, there’s no question in my mind that the unique ornaments are what turn tree decorating into a really special tradition. My favorite ornament in my family has always been a little pink Precious Moments carousel, and I can’t wait to see which ornament of ours becomes Charlie’s favorite in the years ahead! For our tree this year, I’m thinking of picking up a pack of simple metallic ball ornaments, a cranberry garland, and some thick black and white striped ribbon (inspired by this and this), plus plenty of white lights, to use as a base. Then we’ll add in the few ornaments we already have, plus a few of the darling pieces I found below–I’d especially love to add the gingerbread house or the silver gift bow to our little collection!

Do you have an all-time favorite ornament from your family’s collection? I’d love to hear about it!

My favorite ornament was a little wooden sled, because I loved taking it off the tree and dragging other (animal) ornaments around on it! I can already picture June doing the same :)

Super cute choices here! I am going to have to remember to check out after Christmas sales this year. Jimp’s favorite is the little modge podged hand made ornament we made with his picture with Santa last year. Not very fancy but he gets very excited when he sees it! I love the ornament I ordered from Shutterfly with one of our wedding photos on it. :)

Both of those sound so special! Agreed–post-Christmas sales are definitely the ideal way to shop for ornaments!

Mismatched Christmas trees are typical American Christmas trees for me :D Growing up the tree was always decorated the same way: a real tree with lots of lights and shiny ball ornaments. The ornaments were usually bright red but some years my mom would change it up and use pink/blush or silver/white ones. This year I have for the very first time my own Christmas tree in my apartment and I went for an artificial one with ornaments that match my overall decor so the tree has lots of lights and white and silver mismatched ornaments. I love it :) can’t wait to see what yours looks like!
