Over the last week or so, the fact that we’re having a baby has felt so REAL, in both some wonderful ways (finishing up the nursery!) and some kind of terrifying ways (ahem, birth class). I can’t believe how close we’re getting to meeting our baby boy, and even though I’m still pretty nervous about becoming a mom, even the smallest preparation has been comforting. Dave and I have also been talking a lot more lately about what it might be like on a day-to-day basis to have a tiny new family member, and that makes me so excited!
How far along: 33 weeks
Baby size: A cauliflower blossom (or, as the “Parisian Bakery” setting on my app says, three chocolate croissants–yum!)
Weight gain: 28 lbs
Stretch marks: Nope!
Sleep: Not good. I stopped taking Benadryl at night since my itchy hands and feet have gotten a lot better (super grateful for that!), but I haven’t had a solid night of sleep since. I’m not a good sleeper in general, which I am hoping the baby does not inherit from me, haha!
Maternity clothes: Working from home four days a week now has meant a whole bunch of workout clothes :) I’ve started thinking about what I’ll want/be able to wear in the weeks after baby arrives when I’m nursing and not back to my pre-baby weight yet–if any mamas have tips, I’m all ears!!
Gender: Boy!
Movement: Lots and lots, especially if I drink something cold or eat something sweet
Best moment this week: We put some finishing touches on our nursery and I love the way it turned out so much!! Here‘s a little peek. The only thing left to do for the room is to order our glider.
Food cravings: Super cold ice water and Diet Dr. Pepper. I also seem to have a major sweet tooth right now that I am not-so-successfully attempting to keep in check :)
Anything making you queasy or sick: I’ve had a couple of days when I felt really off, but I’m not sure what caused it.
Missing anything: Normal clothes, sleep, and unlimited coffee–those last two might be related :P
Symptoms: Lower back pain, heartburn, shortness of breath, and occasional Braxton-Hicks contractions
Looking forward to: Taking maternity photos on Thursday! We’re doing something a little different that is meaningful to me, and I can’t wait to share :)
Looking forward to meeting him too!
Happy National Day!
Majulah Singapura!
Can’t wait to meet him too!!! Love you Lisa :)
Love you!!
Aw! I can’t wait to see your nursery and the photos! As for nursing clothes–I did pick up a couple of nursing tops and a dress after Jimp was born from H&M. Wearing shirts that can be buttoned or pulled down at the neck or even just pulled up with a nursing tank underneath (I get mine at Target) is the most convenient for me. Unfortunately, this really limited my style of dresses to wear for a while. I wore a lots of wrap dresses or dresses with a low neck that I could pull to the side. Or even just nice skirts and tops (for the nursing tank top trick). You will figure out what works and what doesn’t pretty quickly, I think!
Wearing a normal shirt with a nursing tank top underneath is a GREAT tip–I hadn’t thought about that at all! Thanks so much for all this helpful advice! :)
Glad the itchiness stopped. I think you should embrace the all workout clothes all the time thing! Having a baby is the perfect excuse :) so comfy!
The only current exceptions are Tuesdays in the office and Sundays at church, haha!
Button-front shirts are a nursing gal’s pal (esp cozy oversized flannels!), as well as any tanks / dresses with stretchy necklines you can pull down. Waterfall cardigans can help you feel discreet and covered in public (like a pseudo nursing cover), too!
Thanks so much, Kelly! This might be a perfect excuse to snag a few of J. Crew’s cute new fall button downs :)
You look so gorgeous, and I know that little boy is going to be so over-the-moon for his amazing mama! Can’t wait for you to share your maternity photos!
