By the end of July, my stress level was getting pretty high, but even just a few days into this new month, I’m already feeling so much more relaxed. Dave and I have been settling into the house, I started transitioning to working from home (it’s amazing how much more time cutting out a commute frees up!), and we’ve had a few friends over to hang out on our porch, which has been a joy. Here are a few other things that are currently making me happy!
Local spot: Dave and I have been to Raleigh Beer Garden with friends a handful of times, but this weekend was the first time we stopped by during the day. It gets super busy at night, so being there earlier when we could fully appreciate the space and the atmosphere was a lot of fun! Bonus, the beer-battered pretzel was ridiculously yummy :)
Beauty product: I picked up Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic on a whim at Target, and it turned out to be the perfect, punchy summer color. It has a crayon-like applicator (helpful for really bright colors, I think!) and lasted through a couple of hours (and a meal) before I had to reapply. If you’re a bright lip gal, I don’t think you’ll regret this under $7 buy!
Company: After talking to a few friends who use different baby carriers (we know people who swear by the Ergo and the Moby Wrap), Dave and I added a Solly Baby Wrap to our baby registry. I started following the company’s blog and Instagram, and have fallen in love with their story and mission. Now I just can’t wait to see how baby boy likes the wrap!
Blog: I love following fashion bloggers who share outfits that are affordable and realistic for everyday life, but who still have a unique, creative perspective. Lauren Kay Sims is a current favorite–she seems so sweet and down to earth, and I love her breezy, summer style!
Recipe: We are finally getting back into the routine of cooking from home and it feels so good!!! Caprese quinoa (complete with cherry tomatoes from a friend’s garden) was one of the first recipes we revisted–it’s strangely the only way quinoa has sounded appealing to me during pregnancy. Instagram account: Warning: do NOT follow @ParisInFourMonths unless you can handle daily bouts of European wanderlust. Her photos are breathtaking!
What are you loving these days? Let me know!
You will love the Solly!!! Beau has loved his from the start. My theory is that if you introduce it early, it will be enjoyed. Who knows if that’s true! :)
A few people have told me that! I hope it’s true! :)
I sure hope he likes the solly! That pretzel sounds tasty :)
You would definitely like it–maybe we can go get some on your next Raleigh trip!
I started a new job just two days ago (my first big girl job-even though I still have a couple of semester to wrap up university) and I have been searching the internet high and low for both cute work outfits (I work in the fashion industry even though I am not a fashionista by any means :D) and easy office lunches. Your caprese quinoa salad and the link to Lauren Kay Sims blog are therefore both right up my alley ;-)
How do you feel about working from home so far? Besides the plus of not having a commute, don’t you miss the other girls in the office?
I hope your new job is going well so far! I am still going in to the office on Tuesdays, and talk to the girls all day, every day, so being out of the office doesn’t feel too drastically different, to be honest :)
Ah! I loved our moby. It’s life-changing. Jimp loved to sleep in it. I admit I was frustrated at first because I didn’t really know how to use it. After a few tries, it was great! I definitely recommend not giving up if it seems like it doesn’t work at first. We have two now so I think I’ll keep one in the car for emergencies. We also used the ergo a little later on (maybe 5 months or so). I’m team baby-wearing for sure. ;-)
That’s great advice! We are really hoping to use the wrap a lot, and if baby boy enjoys sleeping in it, even better :)
