November Inspirations

Main

Monthly Inspirations is the only past Something Pretty feature I’m bringing back and I’m excited to kick it off again with one of my favorite months! I love November–fall is in full force, the holidays are right around the corner, and even getting dressed is more exciting (Scarves! Layers! Boots!). Collecting a few key pieces of inspiration helps me focus on my favorite things I want to celebrate about each month, without ending up overwhelmed by all of the ideas and not doing anything special. So, here’s my starting point for what I’ll be wearing, eating, celebrating, and more this November!

November inspirations
Wear: Layers are key during fall in the South–mornings are chilly, but sunny afternoons warm the day right up. I’m loving this combination of cable knit, buffalo check, pearls, and tortoiseshell, and the cooler color scheme that still works so well for fall. (Photo and sweater via Tuckernuck)

Eat: At Thanksgiving, I skip the pumpkin pie and go straight for the chocolate chip pecan pie my mom whips up every year. This year, I’ll be spending the holiday with my soon-to-be in-laws for the first time, and I think I might have to bring this treat along with me–it’s spiked with bourbon for extra Southern flair! Live: My dream house is white with black shutters and greenery all around the door. It’s classic, chic, and oh so welcoming, any time of year. (Photo: unknown)

Decorate: We featured Natalie Franke’s adorable Annapolis home on Southern Weddings last week and her front door stopped me in my tracks. It has me dreaming up other perfect combinations of nautical and autumnal, from wedding receptions to place settings. (Photo by Natalie Franke via Southern Weddings)

Celebrate: This leftovers box from Oh Happy Day a few years ago is one of my very favorite Thanksgiving dinner ideas. It gives guests the best of both worlds: enjoying your hospitality, and still being able to eat turkey sandwiches the next day.  (Photo via Oh Happy Day)

Shop: Buffalo check is one of my favorite patterns, especially in the chillier months. This scarf (complete with the cutest pom pom trim!) is fall-ready, but still light enough for warmer afternoons.

Your turn! What are you wearing, eating, decorating, celebrating, or shopping for this month?

Pecan Pie is one of my favorite pies too! Unfortunately there is no Thanksgiving holiday in Germany (where I live ;-) ) so I always have to find an occasion to make it at least once during fall/winter season.
