Cocktails and Desserts Birthday Party: Details

Celebrations

My number one priority for my birthday party was making it really reflect my style. I used some fun products from Minted’s Party Decor site and combined them with pieces I already had (like gold charger plates and gold dipped mason jars from my Christmas party), and a few DIY projects. Since this was a cocktails and desserts party, the focal points were naturally the coffee table covered in sweet treats and the champagne bar, and I was so happy with how everything turned out!

I decided to make my coffee table into the dessert table, so people could enjoy as much as they wanted without going back and forth. Adding details like colorful sprinkles and cupcakes flags to mini brownies, lemon cakes, and vanilla cupcakes from Whole Foods and a cheesecake from the grocery store made the desserts a little more special, and it was super easy. Considering my oven was broken the day before the party, I’m glad I didn’t put baking on my to-do list the day of.

The champagne bar was a big hit–I bought a bottle of Sofia champagne (recommended by my cocktail-expert friend Lena!) and a bottle of prosecco, and then provided tasty mix-ins, like peach liqueur and grapefruit juice. Everyone loved coming up with their own combinations and sharing the best ones. Since I don’t have real champagne glasses and didn’t want to spend a fortune on them, I was thrilled to find these cute peach plastic flutes at Target, which I decorated with stickers from Minted. I also served a few salty snacks in my normal plastic bowls, which my wonderful photographer added gold striped washi tape to. Such a cute and easy detail!

The last purchase I made on the day of the party was the bouquet of colorful ranunculus I placed on the dessert table–I had planned on getting different shades of pink, but when I saw this pretty bunch, I knew it would pop against everything I was planning to use perfectly. It ended up being my favorite detail of the whole party, and they’re now looking pretty darn gorgeous sitting on my desk!

Check in tomorrow for a few shots from the party!

Love, Lisa
