I have been an avid letter writer since I was seven, when my family moved from Virginia to Singapore. Since this was long enough ago before kids had e-mail addresses, my best friend and I started writing letters to keep in touch. We wrote about our teachers, about the Spice Girls, about my old neighborhood after I left, everything. I’m not sure exactly how long we wrote letters before switching to e-mail, but thanks to the effort we always made, we never drifted apart, even a little bit. Quite a feat for a couple of elementary school girls, I think! Since then, letters have become less of a necessity and more of a treat, not to mention a reason to buy cute stationery. I am blessed that I still have amazing sisters and girlfriends who treasure letters as much as I do, and when I opened this Rifle Paper Company card from my sister in Pittsburgh yesterday, it was like she was celebrating my last ever first week of school with me. The confetti didn’t hurt :)
Opening a save-the-date or wedding invitation should make guests feel festive for so many reasons–the joy of knowing your joy. The honor of being invited to such a special day. And of course, the delightful surprise of snail mail. I love the idea of making it even more celebratory by using glassine envelopes filled with confetti to share the news, like in this example fromĀ Creature Comforts.
Before signing off for the weekend, I would like to announce the winner of the BHLDN giveaway! Congratulations to…
Rosie!
Keep an eye out for an e-mail, Rosie, and thank you so much again to BHLDN for this adorable giveaway. Have a fun weekend!
LOVE IT!!
new favorite post :) :)
A little confetti goes a long way! One of my high school besties and I still write letters (although we added email after catching up over the holidays, because there’s just too much to share in a letter)!
after 10 minutes i realized that you took the first picture…. so cute :D
Thank you! I am so excited! :)
