In these first few days of the new year, I have been working my way through Lara Casey’s steps for goal setting in 2013. It has made me reflect a lot about both the kind of life I want to live in 2013, and about what I want for Something Pretty. One of the biggest things that has stuck out to me? I am at my happiest and most motivated when I seek out places and moments that inspire me. For example, when I lived in Pittsburgh, my favorite spots were the magnificent Carnegie Library and the charming Walnut Street. In Austin, I love the intersection of 6th Street and Lamar, where I can go to Whole Foods, Anthropologie, Paper Source, West Elm, Jonathan Adler, and 24 Diner all in one afternoon. For months, I have been trying to figure out how to bring more of myself to this blog without turning it into a lifestyle blog or alienating those of you who come here specifically for wedding content. When I talked to my sister about all of this, she came up with a way to marry (forgive the pun :)) my inspiration-seeking lifestyle and my love for the wedding world in a brand new column that I think will be just perfect.
To Be Inspired
To Be Inspired posts will appear on Fridays, replacing Love Lists (instead, I’ll share my favorite pictures in a Love List at the end of each month). In these posts, I’ll share a picture and story from my week, and then show you how that moment could be turned into wedding inspiration. For example, if I made my mom’s famous pecan pie, I might share a picture of it along with some pictures of a bride and groom who cut into a pecan pie instead of a wedding cake, or passed out mini pies as sweet favors. The whole point of this column is to show how wedding details can truly reflect a couple’s lifestyle and personality, and I’ll use my own life and journey to find inspiration everywhere I go as an example.
To Be Inspired will start on the 25th, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. Until then, don’t forget that BHLDN Week is next week–you won’t want to miss all of the gorgeousness lined up!
what a splendid idea! :D can’t wait!
This sounds inspired–I love it!
Awesome Idea…we’ll look out for that!
Can’t wait for this! I think it’s a perfect fit for you and Something Pretty :)
