Shabby Chic Lavender and Gray

Weddings

I’m excited about this sweet board for two reasons. One, it was my first time  using the forms I wrote up to use for Something Pretty Online Wedding Design, and I think it worked wonderfully. And two, this is a sample board for a lovely lady whose blog I’m sponsoring this month! Michaela Noelle Designs is my favorite interior design blog, and Michaela is one of the sweetest girls around. Even though she is not engaged or planning a wedding or anything, she came up with some great material for me to work with to build this board for her future dream wedding! She asked for an outdoor, shabby chic, eclectic-but-traditional, gray and lavender wedding with lots of beautiful details, and a strong sense of family. Here’s what I came up with!

Behind the board: The easy thing about this board was grasping the style Michaela wanted. Since I’m already a big fan of her blog and her interior design style, it was really a matter of translating that style from a home to a wedding! She loves big, fluffy flowers, like hydrangea and peonies, so I thought that peonies and lilacs would make the perfect centerpieces. I think that the ceremony space, under a shade from the summer California sun, and adorned with poms, mimics the idea of big flowers too. As some of the pretty little details that really make an event special, I picked a whimsical, understated cake topper, some perky barbershop striped straws, and my personal favorite, a collection of vintage teacups, which could be used as anything from decor, to an escort card display, to something guests actually drink out of. For the sentimental, family-oriented details, I absolutely love this white shutter covered in flowers and black-and-white family wedding photos. Michaela also said that she loves wish trees, so I had to include this life-sized wish tree from one of my favorite Hey Gorgeous shoots–how pretty are all those ribbons in the breeze! Of course, I couldn’t make an inspiration board without any fashion in it, and I think one of my favorite Jim Hjelm gowns would be perfect for Michaela. With a sequined bodice, a ruffly A-line skirt, and a pale gray sash that ties in a bow, it strikes the perfect balance between romantic and fun!

If you’re a bride or know a bride who could use an inspiration board like this, or any other number of things to help get inspired or organized, be sure to check out Something Pretty Online Wedding Design!

Love,

Lisa
