Sit and Stay Awhile

Weddings

There’s something that stops me in my tracks every time I see it in a photo shoot. It is one of those things that fits my personality and style perfectly, and when I have a house someday (or at least a more permanent apartment), it is going to be one of the first things I buy. It’s not a breathtaking dress or a piece of art or anything like that…rather, it’s a couch. Pretty much the most basic piece of furniture ever, after a bed. But I can’t put my finger on it–every time I see a vintage style, tufted, Louis XVI style settee, especially if it’s seafoam green, I sigh a little! Here are my favorites I’ve featured over the months here on Something Pretty, along with the fabulous things that accent them.

{The couch that started it all! This beauty was on 100 Layer Cake back in February…}

{Alongside a rustic cheese display. So cute and unique. Plus, jadeite cake stands and seafoam green couches together are pure perfection}

{This Ruffled bride’s dress caught my eye first, and the couch provides such a beautiful, but not-competing, background. Even better…}

{is that this wedding took place at one of my all-time favorite venues, the Barr Mansion outside Austin, Texas. I’d say there’s a 50% chance I’ll get married there someday, if I can help it ;)}

{Couldn’t you just look at From Me To You’s photography forever? If you haven’t seen her blog, be sure to check it out…her use of light is breathtaking. Something I love about these, besides the couch of course, is the unexpected color combination of seafoam and red-orange. Great way to use red and green without getting into Christmas territory}

{Want to take some seriously dramatic and beautiful bridal shots? Step 1. Rock a fabulous birdcage veil. Step 2…}

{Drag a vintage settee to the middle of a field and strike a pose! From Style Me Pretty}

{How about one of these couches at the sweetheart table? Southern Aisle posted this royal picnic shoot, inspired by Marie Antoinette. Um, amazing! Here’s a closeup of the table…}

{This is the definition of successful collaboration between florists, stationary artists, and event stylists creating a unique but cohesive look!}

So… who wants to go couch shopping? :)

Love,

Lisa
