I’m a long-formal-dress girl all the way. I wore floor length prom dresses both my junior and senior years of high school and I am a zillion percent planning to go all out for my wedding someday with a huge tulle/ruffled/super-textured gown (see this post for some favorites!). That being said, I think short wedding dresses are so adorable, unexpected, and perfect for beach, garden, and backyard weddings. Here are a few of my favorites!
{Ivy and Aster: If I was going to ever wear a short wedding dress, it would be an Ivy and Aster, no question! These are the Morning Glory, Dream a Little Dream, and Loving Thoughts gowns…cute names, huh? :)}
{Amsale: Oh my Amsale! That first tulle number with the bow (Tia) is my favorite, and the other two are Carly and Madge}
{BHLDN: I don’t know what the most fun thing is about these BHLDN styles–the quirky fabulous dresses, the adorable shoes, or the cute names! These are the Floral Artwork Dress, the Pinwheel Tea Dress, and the Fondant Tea Dress}
{J. Crew: I was pleasantly surprised by J. Crew’s collection of short wedding dresses! They’ve expanded their wedding line so much this year… I think it merits a post of its own sometime ;) These are the Nadia One-Shoulder Dress, the Beaded Nicolette Dress, and the Lace Luciana Dress}
{Maggie Sottero: Okay, how perfect is that first dress? I would love to see all the detail in person… so stunning. The second and third dresses are from Maggie Sottero’s Destinations collection. Yup, a collection designed for destination weddings!}
What do you think? Are these short dresses here to stay, or just a trend? I’m undecided, but for the time being, they sure are lovely to look at!
Love,
Lisa
Eeeep! I love short dresses too, Lisa. I actually wore one for our reception as well. And that cute little Tia number from Amsale looks almost identical to the short gown we are using in a shoot next month :) Well done with these choices. They are lovely! xo
I think they’re cute especially for smaller-outdoor type weddings. But I’m still a fan of the full length for a wedding. For the reception though I’ve seen people switch into shorter dresses which is something I’d probably do, just so I could move easier and not get the bottom of the dress dirty.
the dresses are all very cute, but i wouldnt wear a short dress. it wouldnt feel wedding-y enough for me
I love Ivy and Aster dresses! They’re adding another short wedding dress to their collection that’s really cute: http://ivyandaster.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/iris1.jpg
