About Beautycounter

My current Beautycounter favorites (will update this regularly!)

Balancing Facial Mask: The Balancing Collection was the first group of Beautycounter products I tried, and the mask in particular stood out to me. I love the slightly minty smell, the way the mask hardened without pulling on my skin, and how clean and refreshed my face felt afterwards. If you’re already cleansing and moisturizing, but are looking for a product to kick your skincare up a notch, this (or the full Balancing Set/Spa Set) might be a perfect fit.

Citrus Mimosa Body Wash: How good can a body wash be? I didn’t anticipate anything too special with this, but I’ve had the hardest time finding a clean body wash that I actually liked, so I was excited to try this. Um, never turning back. It’s smooth and moisturizing, it smells fantastic (without any artificial fragrance), and it’s made with ingredients that I’m comfortable using on my whole body, even while pregnant or nursing.

Tint Skin Foundation: I’m super picky about foundation (who isn’t?) and was pleasantly impressed by this one. It has medium coverage (that is buildable if you need a little extra), is moisturizing and creamy, and comes in eight shades. You can find the right shade for you here–mine is Linen.

Sheer Lipsticks: I live in these lipsticks! They’re incredibly moisturizing and the color stays put for a surprisingly long time. I’m a bit of a lipstick snob and I highly recommend these! I have them in Scarlet, Coral, and Texas Poppy (a limited edition holiday color).

Ultimate Nudes Eyeshadow Palette: I dedicated a whole post to my love for this limited edition palette! I use it every single day, and the shades in it can work for everything from a day spent running errands to a black-tie event. A tiny bit goes a long way and the colors stay put all day long.

Other products I’ve tried and loved (starred if part of my daily routine)

Skin care
*Nourishing Cream Exfoliator: Lots of exfoliators contain plastic beads that end up polluting the water, but this one is made with natural jojoba beads. I haven’t worked exfoliating into my regular routine yet, but if I do, I’ll definitely pick up this product.
*Nourishing Day Cream: This felt so hydrating, and didn’t make me look shiny. One pump covered my whole face, so the bottle will go a long way!
*Nourishing Rosewater Mist: This has been my go-to toner in the winter when my skin is craving extra moisture…and a little bit of luxury :) It smells heavenly! I apply it after my Day Cream and before putting on makeup.
*Balancing Facial Mist: I use this mist before putting on my makeup most of the year–it absorbs excess oil, refines skin texture, and helps calm redness, so it is a great product to use regularly.
*Balancing Facial Oil: I use this as my moisturizer at night before bed so my skin has plenty of time to soak up the oil. A few drops go a long way, and it has an amazing ylang-ylang smell.
Charcoal Cleansing Bar: My face felt squeaky clean, but not dry, after using this cleansing bar. At a lower pricepoint, it’s a great way to give Beautycounter a try.

Bath and body products
Hydrating Body Lotion: LOVED this lotion–it smells amazing (same scent as the body wash) and wasn’t greasy at all. It would make a lovely gift item as well.
Hand Cream: My hands get so dry and cracked as soon as the weather gets cold, so I use this hand cream daily in the winter. It smells so good and isn’t sticky at all.

Makeup
*Color Define Brow Pencil (in Medium): Great formula that is just “waxy” enough to hold brows in place, and I love that there’s a brush on one side.
*Volumizing Mascara: Beautycounter came out with this formula in summer 2017 and I snapped it up right away. It’s much safer than my old Benefit go-to and keeps my lashes curled for longer. Win-win!
*Powder Blush Duo (in Flamingo/Apricot): I don’t feel quite put together without a rosy cheek, so I love that this blush lasts all day! I mostly use the Apricot shade with just a touch of Flamingo.
*Touchup Concealer Pen (in Light): This concealer provides great coverage, but is light enough to use both on blemishes/redness and under eyes. Definitely a winner!
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer: This has light coverage and SPF 20, so it’s a great everyday product if you prefer a sheer, smoothing base to your makeup. I think my sister Dana is going to love this one–she has great skin and sweet freckles that she should never cover up!
Color Pinch Cream Blusher (in Hibiscus): A little bit goes a looong way! A tiny bit applied with my fingertips lasted all day, and I loved the rosy pink shade for summer.
Lip Gloss (in Peony and limited edition Texas Poppy): The Peony shade looks bright in the tube, but I thought it looked so pretty and natural on. I’m usually a lipstick girl, but I’ll be adding this to my purse for a quick and easy pop of color!

Note: the best, most cost-effective way to switch your makeup to safer Beautycounter products is to purchase the Flawless in Five set. It includes Tint Skin Foundation, a Touchup Concealer Pen, a Powder Blush Duo, a Mascara, a Color Define Brow Pencil, and a Lip Gloss–a $199 value for $150. I personally use every single one of these products daily and can vouch for their high performance!
