Charlie’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Birthdays

Friends! Thank you so, so much for your kind words and encouragement on this post about my first year of motherhood. I was in tears reading the comments–I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such supportive women, both in person and in this little corner of the internet! From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You’re amazing :)

We had such a wonderful time celebrating Charlie’s first birthday with our family and friends this past weekend! I’ll be honest, I went back and forth on party themes for ages (I won’t even admit how early I started brainstorming) and still felt a little uncertain about the one I ultimately decided on till right before the party when things came together. Of course, I know Charlie couldn’t have cared less–this party was much more for Dave and me! But after such a challenging year, it meant a lot to me to do something extra special to celebrate this milestone. My mom was the one who first suggested a Winnie the Pooh theme (Charlie loves him :)), and I decided to focus on “vintage” Pooh with a little fall picnic spin. We incorporated kraft picnic boxes, plenty of blue buffalo check, lots of fun snack food, meant-to-be honey-colored dahlias I scored at Whole Foods the morning of the party, and delicious pumpkin birthday cake, and I LOVE the way it came together. Thanks to both the details and the experience, it ended up being one of my favorite parties I’ve ever thrown!

Charlie’s favorite detail? Definitely the gigantic light blue balloon, in honor of the one in the iconic Pooh story. Just look at him admiring it in our family photo below!

Invitation: Hope and Arrow | Kraft boxes: Le Box Boutique | Tablecloth: CE Rental | Calligraphy: Morgan Rollinson | Honeycombs and balloon: Just Artifacts | Cake topper: Hobby Lobby | Charlie’s outfit: Zulily
