36 Weeks

Lifestyle

After today’s post, I only have one other pregnancy update post planned–I can’t believe we’re getting so close to meeting our son! I was telling Dave the other day that I thought I would feel a lot more ready at this point, but on the other hand, when I think of all that has happened since we found out about the baby back in January, I’m so comforted by the preparation we have done. The perfect example: we hadn’t even started looking at houses yet then, and now, we’re all moved into a sweet little ranch that we love…and that has a finished nursery in it. Ready or not, baby boy is coming soon, and we are getting so excited to see him and snuggle him!

36 weeks

How far along: 36 weeks

Baby size: A papaya! I also asked my doctor for a weight estimate last week and she said probably about 5 lbs.

Weight gain: 34 lbs

Stretch marks: Still none, yay!

Sleep: Not good. I think we might be being prepared for life with a newborn because Dave and I have both been waking up a lot at night–me because I can’t get comfortable, and him…well, I don’t know why he’s waking up so much, but it’s kind of funny that we’re in it together already :)

Maternity clothes: Tremendously grateful to be able to be in workout clothes most of the time, plus my trusty swing dresses. I am seriously missing the rest of my closet!

Gender: Boy!

Movement: He is running out of space, but still kicking up a storm. It’s a little easier to identify his tiny arms and legs now, which is fun!

Best moment this week: So much good preparation. We finished washing baby clothes and sheets, installed the car seat, made hospital bag packing and pre-baby grocery shopping lists, and set up the glider in the nursery to finish it up.

Food cravings: Still loving ice cold water, the occasional Diet Dr. Pepper, and cereal at least once a day. It seems like cereal is a popular craving–I wonder why!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really

Missing anything: My normal clothes and good workouts. I think I shot myself in the foot by not being more consistent with exercise throughout pregnancy, because even walking gets pretty uncomfortable at this point. This is the number one thing I plan to do differently in subsequent pregnancies.

Symptoms: Braxton-Hicks contractions, lower back pain, acid reflux, shortness of breath, general discomfort all day, every day :P

Looking forward to: Taking an extra day off for Labor Day weekend to relax with Dave! I feel like I can’t get enough time with him these days, so I’m extra excited for a little staycation!
