31 Weeks

Lifestyle

Even though I’m feeling bigger and less comfortable by the day, this has been one of my favorite weeks of pregnancy so far, because I’ve been constantly reminded of what’s on the other side :) We’re all moved into our new house, baby boy’s nursery (and closet!) are filling up, and I was deeply encouraged by so many people who care about our little family over the last week. Thinking about having a baby when neither Dave nor I have family nearby feels scary sometime, but this week has been a wonderful reminder of how many people we DO have to lean on for prayers and support, which I am beyond grateful for!

31 weeks

How far along: 31 weeks

Baby size: A head of romaine lettuce, or about 17 1/2 inches!

Weight gain: 24 pounds

Stretch marks: None!

Sleep: Kind of inconsistent right now. I wasn’t sleeping well for awhile, but taking Benadryl before bed (see symptoms below) has been totally knocking me out lately.

Maternity clothes: I am pretty much wearing the same weekly rotation of clothes at this point–a mix of non-maternity flowy dresses (I did buy this one in black, pictured above, to supplement how often I was wearing the striped version!), and maternity tees and shorts. I love these shirts!

Gender: Sweet boy :)

Movement: Lots and lots, which I am so grateful for!

Best moment this week: Hands down, our baby shower over the weekend! My mom, sisters, mother-in-law, and some long-time family friends even made the trip to Raleigh to spend the weekend with us and celebrate at the shower. One of my dearest friends hosted, and it was absolutely a dream. Baby boy was spoiled and I felt so loved!! Sneak peeks on Instagram here and here, and a full recap coming soon! :)

Food cravings: Definitely protein. We bought a grill last week, and being able to make grilled chicken so easily has been the best! I’m also loving super cold ice water, though that may have something to do with the heat wave we’re in, too.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I think my stomach may be a little more sensitive to dairy than usual lately, for some reason.

Missing anything: I haven’t been comfortable with the idea of drinking at all during pregnancy (even though I know that one drink won’t be harmful) but the watermelon sangria special at a restaurant over the weekend was pretty tempting!

Symptoms: Two weekends ago, my hands and feet started itching terribly, especially at night. My doctor hurried me in to run some tests for cholestasis, which was so nerve-wracking. Thankfully, the results came back negative! Now, I’m just taking Benadryl before bed and sleeping with ice packs on my feet to deal with the itchiness. Such a bizarre symptom, but apparently, NOT one to ignore!

Labor signs: Nope!

Looking forward to: After a CRAZY summer so far, Dave and I finally have a weekend with no big plans ahead!! I can’t wait to relax and do super normal things like grocery shop, go for a walk in our new neighborhood, and dig into this book.

Yay baby!! Glad I was able to finally see your baby bump and feel him grooving :)

  3. India says:

You look great! That baby bump is adorable :) This might be a myth, but I remember hearing that women carrying baby boys become itchy because of all of the new testosterone and different hormones in their body from the baby?? I have NO idea if that’s true or not, but I thought about it when you said your hands were itchy :)
