27 Weeks

Lifestyle

I cannot BELIEVE this is the last week of my second trimester! The past few months have been so busy, but for the most part, I’ve been feeling good, and I’m enjoying the benefits that have come with starting to look obviously pregnant–turns out, people are super sweet to pregnant ladies :) I’ll be sharing my second trimester favorites next week, but in the meantime, here’s a 27 weeks update!

27weeks

How far along: 27 weeks

Baby size: A head of cauliflower, AKA about two pounds and 15″ long!

Weight gain: I’ve been pretty steady at about 20 pounds for the past two weeks.

Stretch marks: Nope

Sleep: I’m sleeping well on our king-sized bed at the apartment, but not quite as well on the queen in our guest room at the house when we stay there overnight! Propping myself between our two biggest pillows seems to make all the difference.

Maternity clothes: Still loving my flowy dresses! On more casual days and weekends, I’ve also been wearing some maternity denim shorts I picked up at Old Navy (pictured above) with a flowy tank top or a maternity tee (I’ve bought four and am hoping I can cap it there). I also bought a dress for my upcoming baby shower the other day that I’m eagerly awaiting in the mail!

Gender: Boy!

Movement: Sooo much. And he’s often in different spots, which is fun!

Best moment this week: Dave’s parents came down for the weekend to help us knock out tons of work on the house. It was so great to spend time with them, and the house already feels so much more like home. We also bought a little laundry basket for the nursery and filled it with the clothes baby boy has acquired so far. Going through the tiny outfits was so sweet!

Food cravings: Fruit and hot fudge…though not together :) I’ve also had a big taste for salad lately, but that might be more due to the fact that I’m a little tired of eating out (so much travel and craziness over the past few weeks!) than anything else.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Poor Dave still can’t put hot sauce on anything without it making my stomach turn. He is hoping this is not a permanent problem :P

Missing anything: My friend Callie ran a half-marathon a few weeks ago, and her posts on social media made me miss running a little bit…I know tons of people run while pregnant, but my heart rate tends to get too high too quickly for me to feel comfortable with it, so I haven’t run in months. I’m considering signing up for a 5K in April so I’ll be motivated to get back into it soon after baby boy arrives! Postpartum running tips very much welcome :)

Symptoms: Um, hormones? I’ve had a few moments over the past week or two where I found myself crying over things that weren’t that big of a deal. Dave has been extra sweet during these moments, which I appreciate a lot!!

Labor signs: Nope.

Looking forward to: Our first baby shower this weekend!! We’re headed up to Syracuse for a co-ed backyard “baby-q” and I can’t wait to celebrate our baby boy with Dave’s family!
