20 Weeks

Lifestyle

I love reading updates from pregnant friends–it’s so amazing and crazy how much changes week by week! I’ll be posting one of these updates every month and I’m excited to keep track of how I’m doing, and, most importantly, how baby Kirk is growing!

P.S. A quick note to any mamas-to-be reading this–every pregnancy is SO different, and I hope that this post is fun to read and not a cause to worry or stress at all if you and I are experiencing different things. I’d love to hear from you in the comments about any similarities or differences so we can encourage each other! :)

20 weeks(I’m planning to blog this (non-maternity!) dress soon, but in the meantime, find it here in six colors!)

How far along: 20 weeks as of Friday! This photo was taken at 19 1/2 weeks.

Baby size: A Belgian endive (??) or a banana, according to a few sources! I think he might be a little bigger than average because at our sonogram, he weighed more than my app was telling me. I’m thinking he’s just tall like his daddy :)

Weight gain: About 13 pounds–more than I would have hoped to gain at this point, but I am trying not to fixate on the number, and my doctor is not concerned at all. I know I could be exercising more, so I am prioritizing that better for the second half of pregnancy!

Stretch marks: None, thankfully! I’m using this lotion religiously to try to prevent them since I think I may be prone to them.

Sleep: I can’t complain–I’ve been sleeping between two pillows for the last few weeks, which has been working out well.

Maternity clothes: I wore maternity leggings to fly to and back from Singapore and they. were. amazing. Other than that, I’m living in flowy, non-maternity tops and dresses, and hope to do so for as long as possible.

Gender: Boy!!! Still can’t believe it :)

Movement: Yes!! Mostly just little pokes, but lately, I’ve felt a few bigger kicks too. It is so sweet!!

Best moment this week: This is a little silly, but sleeping in my own comfy bed after traveling for 30 hours on the way back from Singapore felt like HEAVEN.

Food cravings: Caprese sandwiches and allll the fruit (so happy about the fresh produce coming into season now!).

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still can’t stand the smell of hot sauce (sorry, Dave!). Traveling to and back from Singapore was also pretty rough on my stomach–as wonderful as our trip was, I don’t particularly recommend making it while pregnant!

Missing anything: Dave and I had our anniversary dinner in Singapore at an amazing little Italian restaurant (they import their ingredients from Italy daily!) and I had to pass on a complimentary glass of prosecco, which I was a little sad about it. I rarely drink, but occasions that celebratory feel odd without something bubbly to toast with :)

Symptoms: Some heartburn and headaches.

Labor signs: Nope–keep growing, little one!

Looking forward to: Our next doctor’s appointment on Friday, where we’ll go over our sonogram in more depth. I can’t stop staring at the photo as it is, and I can’t wait to learn more about how he’s growing!

I want to know your bra size because I’ve gone up about 3! DD! Lol. And I’ve also gained 14 lbs already so you aren’t alone!

  2. Dana says:

    Baby updates are fun!

  3. Rachel says:

so fun!! and you definitely should NOT have passed on the prosecco! Especially once you are out of the first trimester… says Dr. Boschini. and I trust him ;) The ocassional glass (or half glass if you’d rather) is totally fine.

  4. Andrea says:

Boys love their mama! I craved the fruit too and lived in my old navy(non-maternity) leggings the whole time last summer. Also H&M has affordable maternity clothes. Super cute and nice for post partaum.

  5. Em says:

I second Rachel on the prosecco vote, but you do whatever makes you feel comfortable! :) And feeling movement is the best!!

  6. Kelly says:

Looking radiant! You’ve really got the glow. :) Can’t wait to see how your pregnancy progresses, I’ll definitely be saving these posts for later. :)

  7. Mary says:

Aw! How exciting! I can’t believe you’re halfway there already. Feeling movement is definitely one of the best things about pregnancy. Have you felt any hiccups yet?? Also, I’m curious about what leggings you have. I’ve heard good things about these: http://www.blanqi.com/products/maternity-high-performance-belly-lift-support-leggings

I just wore regular ones last time and they were fine, but I’m interested in investing in a comfy pair that would last for a few pregnancies. ;-)

    • Lisa says:

I can’t believe it either! No hiccups yet, but the kicks are getting more frequent :) My leggings are actually a hand-me-down from a friend and they’re BeMaternity by Ingrid & Isabel. They fall down a little since my bump isn’t quite big enough to hold them up yet, so I fold them over once for now!
