My New Favorite App

Style

As much as I love getting out and trying new things in Raleigh, I have to admit, I end up at my favorite go-to spots all too often. Googling things to do, looking up restaurant reviews, and researching events can be kind of overwhelming to me, and I’d much rather do something off of a friend’s recommendation than something I find myself–which is great, but not very conducive to regular adventures! That’s why I was SO excited when a friend recently showed me the Offline app, and it has quickly become one of my new favorite things. I could hardly wait to tell y’all about it!

Offline is a curated collection of activities and events,  and it is currently available for Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, and Nashville, with Atlanta, DC, and hopefully lots more coming soon. You can search by headline categories like “Must-Dos in August” or “This Weekend” to find out what’s right around the corner, or check out their main categories–a few of my favorites are Cheap Dates, Best Brunch Spots, and Coffee. If you find an activity you want to do, you can bookmark it, and even add it to your iCal or text it to a friend. Once you do that activity, you can check it off and upload a photo that other users will be able to see when they’re looking into that spot. It’s a little bit addictive, and I’ve already bookmarked tons of places and activities I want to try! If you’re in any of the cities I mentioned, sign up here and let me know what you think :)

Offline led Dave and I to the Slingshot Coffee HQ this weekend, where they host a pop-up coffee shop every weekend during the summer. It was totally unassuming and I don’t think we ever would have found out about it otherwise, but we loved everything about it–the cold brew coffee, the pimento cheese pop tarts (as good as they sound!), and the all-outdoor seating. It reminded me so much of Austin, and we will definitely be back before fall comes around!

  1. Thanks so much for sharing!! I just downloaded it & can’t wait to find some new adventures to get into. This is perfect for someone (like myself!) who just moved to a new area and is excited to explore. I always pride myself on knowing what’s going on in my city and what events are happening, but it definitely takes time to accumulate that knowledge of a city :)

Wish they had this for Austin! I’m a fan of Thrillist for places to eat and must-do lists. They have a bunch of major cities and I’ve been pleased with some of the info I’ve found out from them; like free chicken and waffles the first sunday of the month at icenhauers!

  3. Rachel says:

Awesome! I hope the app adds Denver soon :)

  4. Kyla Fetzner says:

This is reason number 837 why I am considering making a move to the Triangle :)

  5. David Shaner says:

Thanks so much for covering us Lisa! Feel free to drop by our office and say hey to the team any time you’re downtown.

    Best,
