One Year of Blogging!

Lifestyle

Pop some champagne, y’all! It’s Something Pretty’s first blog birthday!

I could go on and on about how much writing this blog over the past year has meant to me, and how much it has  helped me to find myself and figure out exactly what I want to do with my life, but instead, I would like to just thank YOU from the bottom of my heart for your love, support, comments, and encouragement over the past year. As a token of my appreciation, I would like to present the very first…

I thought long and hard about what would be the perfect gift to one of you in order to commemorate my first year of blogging, and I think I picked something pretty great! Not only is it by a woman I look up to very much, it is also a phrase that has become my motto, and a picture that has been my desktop background more times than I can count over this past year.

Emily Ley‘s catchphrase, “I will hold myself to a standard of grace, not perfection” means to me that it is okay to fail or to mess up, as long as you conduct yourself gracefully and graciously. Remembering this has helped me through the inevitable hiccups that come with starting any new project, particularly this project of blogging and putting my ideas and inspiration out there with the potential for criticism. Grace, not perfection. So, today I am giving away one Emily Ley print! The “Grace Not Perfection” print comes in pink (shown above), grey, or blue. Her other print is equally relevant to today, so there’s that option as well–it reads “The joy is in the journey” and it comes in yellow, green, and teal.

To enter this giveaway, just do the following!

1. Follow Something Pretty on Facebook ,  Twitter, and/or Bloglovin, and let me know in your comment how you followed.

2. Leave a comment on this post telling me what your biggest source of inspiration has been this year. And don’t forget to include which color/phrase is your favorite print! You can see them all in Emily Ley’s shop.

3. Extra entry! Mention this giveaway in a tweet or blog post, and leave another comment to let me know.

I can’t wait to hear what has been inspiring you, because all of you have inspired me. :) Please note, this is not a sponsored giveaway, and I will be purchasing the print for the winner myself, just because I love it! This giveaway will be closed a week from today, at 9:00 p.m. (Central time) on Thursday, December 15th, and the winner will be announced the following day.

Have a wonderful day, and enjoy a cupcake in Something Pretty’s honor if you feel so inclined–I definitely will be!

Love,

Lisa

    Happy one year!
My biggest inspiration has always been my mother who, throughout her many hardships, has always carried herself with such strength and grace.
I love the print/phrase as it is in the picture. It is a phrase I will surely keep in my heart, thanks for sharing.
    Hope you are well!

Congratulations on the blog birthday! I love following your blog.

My husband always tells me these little phrases, one line lessons, and antidotes learned from his parents and mentors that inspire and brighten my day. I have been passing on this bit of inspiration in my Words of Wisdom Wednesday post series. I actually posted Emily’s Grace print a few weeks ago. I love this saying (especially in pink!)

  7. Kristen says:

    Happy 1st Birthday, Something Pretty!

I “liked” your Facebook page AND am leaving you a comment. LOL I guess you can tell I like the print. =)

This year I’ve been inspired by most things Southwestern or tribal. Pinterest is where I find a lot of my inspiration. http://pinterest.com/cathryn_mayo/

Oh, and the “The Joy is in the Journey” in yellow is my favorite.

  10. Happy 1st birthday! I am so glad that blogging has brought you joy. Congrats! (I love the bow dress in the photo, BTW)

  11. Konstantina says:

Happy birthday, I wish you have the strength to go on for many years.
My biggest inspiration since I start my job as a wedding planner, 6 years ago, was Michelle Rago. I was certified wedding planner but still I had and I have many things to learn. Michelle has been my inspiration always. She is moving at the same field with me, she is also a wedding planner for destination weddings. Of course I am far behind her but it is exciting to keep trying for the best every day.

I am not into pink very much, I prefer the lovely green.
